 Ride Roosevelt’s Reading Wave

To earn your Reading Wave and have it posted on the Kindergarten surfboard, just do one of the activities listed below. You can complete activities on books that you read yourself, books that your grownups read to you, or books that you both read together! To earn beach stickers for your Wave, complete additional activities.  Remember that you only earn stickers for different activities.

___ Make a comic strip that shows the beginning, middle, and end of your story. 

___ If your book was nonfiction, find 1 illustration or photograph in the book.

Talk to your grownup about how it helped you understand the information.  

___ Create a map showing the important places in your book. Give your map a title and be sure to label each place!

___ If your book was fiction, find an illustration in your story. Talk to your grownup about what the illustration tells you about the story’s characters, setting, and events.

___ Illustrate a scene or section from the book that does not already have a picture. 

___ Write or draw 3 major events from the book in the correct order.
