Books are Treasure. Read for Pleasure!
Do you want some “bling” for your box? Then read a book and do one of the activities listed below. To earn a special prize, just read and complete at least 3 activities this month
(2 fiction/1 nonfiction)--just remember that you may do each activity only once!
Why do you suppose the author wrote your book…to persuade, inform, or entertain you?
Use the Author’s Purpose graphic organizer to help you with your answer.
Write a paragraph about how your story would be different if it took place in another time or place. What might change? What might stay the same?
Create a map that shows where the events in your book take place.
If your book was nonfiction, take a text features scavenger hunt! Track your findings
using the Text Features Scavenger Hunt worksheet.
Research the environment in which your book takes place. List three facts about it. (For example, what animals would you find there? What is the climate like? Describe the geography…)
If your book was nonfiction, what was its main idea? Write it down and then list at least 3 supporting details.
Using the Nonfiction Text Features worksheet, list 3 facts you learned from your book.
Then show which text features helped draw your attention to these facts.
Using the Setting Map graphic organizer, write about the setting of your book.
